DRAPER, Utah –
The Utah National Guard is aware of helicopter flights this past weekend that deviated from standard military flight patterns and caused concerns in the communities surrounding the South Valley Regional Airport. The Utah National Guard did not fly helicopters this past weekend.
Neighboring companies who also use the South Valley Regional Airport have aircraft that look like Army Black Hawk helicopters but are not military aircraft. These civilian aircraft are identified by tail number and can be tracked using Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast. Army helicopters are not required to broadcast ADS-B signals.
