Nearly 100 Soldiers from the Utah National Guard deployed to the Middle East on Sunday, Oct. 1, from the Utah National Guard’s Wright Air Base.
A ceremony was held for the deploying Soldiers at the Wright Air Base. Following the ceremony, they boarded a chartered flight to travel to Fort Bliss, Texas, for additional training prior to deploying overseas.
Scheduled speakers at the ceremony include the Adjutant General of the Utah National Guard, Maj. Gen. Jefferson S. Burton, and the 65th Field Artillery Brigade Commander Col. Adam L. Robinson.
Delta Battery, 1st Battalion, 145th Field Artillery, part of Utah’s oldest military unit, will be deploying to provide vital security support for forces in the region and conducting artillery missions with Middle Eastern partners.
The battery is comprised of highly trained and skilled volunteers almost entirely from other units within the Utah artillery community. (Photo by Ileen Kennedy)
