Dignified Transfer and Graveside Services for U.S. Army Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kirk T. Fuchigami Jr., 25, from Keaau, Hawaii, died Nov. 20, 2019, in Logar Province, Afghanistan, when his helicopter crashed while providing security for troops on the ground. The incident is under investigation.

Fuchigami was assigned to 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Fuchigami's remains are scheduled to arrive in Utah with a dignified transfer Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at 1:10 p.m. at the Ogden-Hinkley Airport. He will be received by his wife. The remains will be transported from the airport to the mortuary located at 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, Utah.

From the mortuary, Fuchigami's remains will be transported to the chapel located at E. 900 North St., Brigham City, Utah, for funeral services, scheduled Monday, December 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services are closed to the media.  He is scheduled to be buried with full military honors and a military aircraft flyover at 1:15 p.m. at the Brigham City Cemetery, 300 S. 300 E., Brigham City, Utah. Full military honors includes a firing party for a 21-gun salute, a bugler to play TAPS, and a three-man fold team to present the flag to Fuchigami's wife. Dignified Transfer and Graveside services are open to the media.

The dignified transfer will be conducted at the Ogden-Hinkley Airport, 3909 Airport Road, Ogden, Utah. Media access to the airport must be coordinated with Cynthia Scanlon, Kemp Jet Services, 801-627-0040.

Both Dignified Transfer and graveside services are open to the media.

Funeral services are closed to the media.
