CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah - March 8th is the day we celebrate women's achievements around the world. For International Womens Day, we are proud to spotlight one of our own: Sgt. 1st Class Jennifer Hallock, operations noncommissioned officer for 1st Battalion. Why did she join the Army? “I wanted to serve,” Hallock said. “I always liked to challenge myself.” Hallock, 51, enlisted in the active duty Army in October 1993. By January of 1999, she had transitioned to the reserves and she's been part of the National Guard ever since. She’s been trained as Military Police (MOS 31B) and has led a decorated military career. As the Operations NCO of 1st Battalion, she is responsible for dozens of instructors and overseeing the quality of the Basic Leadership Course at our premiere schoolhouse. Her favorite part of serving in the Army has been the lifelong friends she’s made and the comradery. “I knew when I joined the military there would be challenges, difficulties, and possible failures. However, through perseverance and the comradery of female Soldiers, I have proudly served 22 years so far.” What does Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean to her? “My daughter and granddaughters have watched and learned how women can be strong, smart, independent, and how to persevere; to meet every challenge and obstacle set in front of them.”
