IMPORTANT UPDATES!

Effective 4 May, 2021: FTA and Montgomery GI Bill- Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) may be used at the same time if you are going to school at least half-time! Please be aware that it will take time for the VA to issue guidance to School Certifying Officials (SCO) on this change.

Federal Tuition Assistance:

ArmyIgnitED functionality is improving! Some schools are fully onboard in the new site and have begun submitting degree plans, course enrollment files, and the ETP TA requests for coverage for classes that were taken after GoArmyEd shutdown. If your school is one of those, you may request TA by clicking on your "education path" and then "Request Tuition Assistance" and select your course(s) from the information that was uploaded.

The Exception to Policy (ETP) coverage is still in place to allow time for all other schools to finish their onboarding process. If you click the link to request TA and no courses are listed, it means that your school has not uploaded your course enrollment file. Again- if you are eligible and have FTA available, you can still be covered under the ETP. Your funding will be processed once your school uploads the necessary information. Make sure you are in communication with your school POCs and they know that you are a member of the ARNG and plan to use FTA.

Please contact our office with questions!

Credentialing Assistance:

CA requests may be submitted through ArmyIgnitED now. Requests must be submitted at least 30 business days before the start of your training or exam date. Visit Army COOL to explore eligible credentials.
Due to the requirements of the fiscal year (FY) closeout, all CA requests for the current FY must be submitted no later than 31 July for start dates on or before 30 September.
Starting on 1 August, CA requests may be submitted for the next FY with start dates on or after 18 October.

State Tuition Waiver:

The waiver application window has closed. Waivers may be awarded to late applicants if there are any remaining at your school. Please contact our office for more info about that possibility.

STW applications for the Fall 2021-Spring 2022 academic year will be accepted through 30 April. Provides financial assistance toward tuition for first associate, bachelor's, master's degree and/or academic certificate.

Can be used for colleges/universities in-state or out-of-state, online or in-person, and for just one class at a time or full-time enrollment!

FTA is requested and processed through ArmyIgnitED. To create your account, go to www.armyignited.com, click on "Get Started" and use your login.gov account (or create a new one) to sign in. Make sure to use your military email and your CAC card when you first create your account so your DOD ID can be linked. You may add additional authentication methods to your login.gov account so that you may be able to log in in the future without a CAC reader.

Once your account is created, click on "Education Path" to select your school and degree program. You must register for classes directly with your school, but once your education path is approved, return to the "My Education Path" page and click "Request Tuition Assistance" to request funding for your classes.

FTA requests should be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the class start date and must be approved prior to that date.
