The Utah National Guard will host the 65^th annual Governor’s Day, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at 10 a.m., at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, Utah.

The honorable Gov. Gary R. Herbert, commander in chief of the Utah National Guard, and the Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Jeff Burton, will oversee the celebrations on Tarbet Field. They will inspect their more than 7,000 troops in a pass-in-review ceremony, a time-honored tradition, and unique opportunity for Airmen and Soldiers.

Spectators are welcome to attend the free-of-charge Governor’s Day event. This year will begin with a KC-135R Stratotanker flyover and include capabilities demonstrations with AH-64 Apache Longbow and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, coordinated with Utah’s 19^th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and 65^th Field Artillery Brigade. Governor’s Day will also feature a 19-volley cannon salute to the governor, with music provided by the 23^rd Army Band.

Families of Maj. Brent Taylor, a military intelligence officer with Joint Force Headquarters and Cpt. Corey Holmgren, a Utah National Guard officer and chaplain with the 19^th Special Forces Group, both of whom lost their lives the previous year, will be recognized and honored with a moment of silence during the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, families are invited to a classic car show, military equipment displays, and food booths sponsored by various organizations. 

Communities surrounding Camp Williams should expect traffic congestion on Redwood Road. No parking is allowed along Redwood Road.  Prior to the flyovers, the Stratotanker, Apache and Black Hawk may be seen circling the south end of the valley.  Additionally, with the planned cannon volleys, noise may be heard for the first hour.
