Fire Contained after Spreading onto Camp Williams

By Maj. D.J. Gibb, 801-716-9063 For Immediate Release

A fire that started today near Camp Williams property just after the noon hour spread onto Camp Williams and was contained by fire crews with nine trucks responding from Bluffdale, Lehi, Saratoga Springs and Camp Williams.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but was contained by 1:30 p.m. Fire crews will remain in place working on remaining hot spots. Training activities are not conducted in the area where the fire started. The fire burned on the garrison side of Camp Williams and stayed below the canal. There were no injuries or structural loss reported.

A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was on standby.

The Utah National Guard will continue to send out updates via Twitter @UTNationalGuard.
