The annual period for part-time Utah National Guard Soldiers and Airmen to enroll in or change their TRICARE health insurance plan began on Monday, November 11th and ends on Monday, December 9th. During TRICARE Open Season, service members can:

• Do nothing. If service members want to stay in their current TRICARE health care plan, they don’t have to take any action. They will continue in their current health plan through 2020 or as long as eligible.
• Enroll in a plan. If eligible for a TRICARE Prime option or TRICARE Select but not enrolled, service members can can enroll in a plan now. Call United Concordia at 844-866-9378
• Change plans. If you’re already enrolled in a TRICARE Prime option, or TRICARE Select, you can switch plans and switch between individual and family enrollment.

If service members don’t take any action and they aren’t already in a plan, they will only be eligible for care at a military hospital or clinic if space is available. Outside of TRICARE Open Season, service members can only enroll in or change enrollment to TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select following what is called a “Qualifying Life Event.” A QLE is a certain change in life, such as marriage, birth of a child, or retirement from active duty, which may mean different TRICARE options become available. A TRICARE QLE opens a 90-day period for you to make eligible enrollment changes. A QLE for one family member means all family members may make enrollment changes. During open enrollment, service members may also be eligible to enroll in, change or cancel a dental or vision plan through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program. For more information about FEDVIP, visit www.benefeds.com.
