SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Approximately 80 Soldiers from the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment are scheduled to return home from their U.S. Central Command deployment Oct. 6, 2020.

The Soldiers will be returning on a number of commercial flights throughout the day. Two of the larger groups will be returning at 12:55 p.m. on American Airlines with approximately 10 Soldiers and at 4:10 p.m. on Delta with approximately 20 Soldiers.   

The arriving Soldiers are part of a larger contingent of nearly 300 that deployed in May 2020. The Soldiers will be arriving to their home station after spending a quarantine period at Fort Hood, Texas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the deployment, the battalion augmented the 4th Infantry Division’s Combat Aviation Brigade as part of Task Force Ivy Eagle. The battalion’s three AH-64 Apache helicopter companies were tasked with providing combat-air support to ground forces operating in the CENTCOM area of operations.

This is the third deployment for the 1-211th ARB to the CENTCOM area of operations. The remaining unit members are scheduled to return from the deployment over the next several weeks.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to our remaining 1-211th ARB Soldiers still deployed,” said Lt. Col. Jon D. Richardson, 1-211th ARB commander. “We look forward to the day that all of the unit members will be reunited with families and are safely back home in Utah.”
