The Utah Air National Guard’s 151st Air Refueling Wing command chief master sergeant will undergo a change of responsibility in a ceremony at Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base, Salt Lake City, Utah on Dec. 5, 2020 at 9:30am.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, media will not be able to attend the event, the base will be limiting those in attendance and will live stream the event on Facebook. Those who wish to view the ceremony may do so at www.facebook.com/151arw/live

After completing 25-plus years of service, Chief Master Sgt. Matthew Hooper, will transfer responsibility as the 151st Air Refueling Wing’s senior enlisted leader to Chief Master Sgt. Martha Castleton.

Hooper began his career in 1994 as a member of the 151st Security Forces Squadron. As his career progressed, he had many unique opportunities including supporting the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia and the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additionally, he has deployed in support of Operations Flowing Pen, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Lion Pavon. Hooper has served as the wing command chief since August 2016.

“Chief Hooper has been beyond instrumental to the success of the Utah Air National Guard for more than 25 years,” said 151st Air Refueling Wing Commander, Colonel Kurt R. Davis. “Chief Hooper’s devotion to the men and women of the 151st is unmatched. I congratulate him as he wraps up a distinguished career and ushers in Chief Castleton as she embarks on this exciting new journey. I am confident Chief Castleton will lead with dignity and respect as we continue to progress and strengthen our capabilities and resiliency.”

Assuming responsibility as command chief master sergeant is Chief Master Sgt. Martha Castleton. Castleton most recently served as the 151st Medical Group superintendent, overseeing the medical group’s training, deployment taskings and overall readiness. Additionally, Castleton advised the group commander on enlisted roles regarding assigned program status, resources, and changes that may impact mission effectiveness.

Castleton will be the first female to serve in the role of command chief master sergeant for the 151st Air Refueling Wing.
