Soldiers from the Utah National Guard’s 144th Area Support Medical Company deploy in support of U.S. Central Command

Approximately 12 Soldiers from the 144th Area Support Medical Company, are scheduled to depart Utah in mid-May, to deploy in support of U.S. Central Command operations overseas. The Soldiers and their families were honored during a deployment ceremony on May 12, 2021.

The detachment, comprised of medical personnel and medical providers from the 144th AMSC, is augmenting a larger unit during a 12-month deployment in the CENTCOM area of operations.

Many of these medical professionals worked over the last year as part of the task force that supported the Utah National Guard’s COVID-19 response efforts throughout the state.

“The 144th Area Support Medical Company is sending a group of highly trained medical providers to the CENTCOM area of operations. They have spent the last several months sharpening their medical skills by training together and learning from each other,” said Maj. Kenneth A. Wade, the commander of the 144th AMSC. “They will be spread out in smaller teams based upon the needs of the ground troops, and are proud to serve in any capacity needed.”

The Utah National Guard is a premier, community-based force comprised of relevant and trained citizen-Soldiers and Airmen who are ready to support contingency operations worldwide.
