The Utah National Guard will host the 67th annual Governor’s Day, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at 10 a.m., at Camp Williams, Utah.

Gov. Spencer J. Cox, commander in chief of the Utah National Guard, and the adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Michael Turley, will oversee the event on Tarbet Field and inspect their troops in a pass-in-review ceremony. The time-honored tradition continues after being cancelled for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be Cox’s first opportunity to observe the state of readiness of his troops.

“We are excited to resume this meaningful tradition after a two-year break,” said Turley. “It will be an honor for the Soldiers and Airmen of the Utah National Guard to welcome Governor Cox for his first Governor’s Day.”

Spectators are welcome to attend the free-of-charge Governor’s Day event. This year will feature a 19-volley cannon salute to the governor, fired by 1st Battalion, 145th Field Artillery; music by the 23rd Army Band; and a special recognition of approximately 150 Gold Star Family members in attendance.

Following the ceremony, families are invited to attend various activities, including a classic car show, military equipment displays, and food trucks sponsored by various organizations.

Communities surrounding Camp Williams should expect traffic congestion on Redwood Road. No parking is allowed along Redwood Road. Prior to the flyovers, the KC-135 Stratotanker, UH-64A Apache and UH-60 Black Hawk may be seen circling the south end of the valley. Additionally, with the planned cannon volleys, noise may be heard for the first hour.
