Approximately 45 Soldiers from the Utah Army National Guard’s Main Command Post – Operational Detachment are scheduled to depart Utah in early January, to deploy in support of U.S. European Command operations overseas. The Soldiers and their families will be honored during a deployment ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2023, at the Camp Williams Readiness Center.

The detachment comprised of individual augmentee forces will fill several critical roles in the division staff for the 4th Infantry Division during a 12-month deployment in the European Commands area of responsibility.

These highly trained Soldiers have been training with the headquarters staff for months in preparation for this deployment and will integrate fully with the active-duty division as they perform their missions overseas.

“The Utah Army National Guard’s Main Command Post–Operational Detachment could not be more prepared and ready to deploy with the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve,” said Lt. Col. Darrin Gumucio, the detachment commander. “The 45 Soldiers of the MCPOD will assimilate into their assigned roles within the headquarters as the Division reaffirms support to NATO allies through training assistance and aggression deterrence.”

The Utah National Guard is a premier, community-based force comprised of relevant and trained citizen-Soldiers and Airmen who are ready to support contingency operations worldwide.
