The Triple Deuce will conduct field artillery live-fire demonstration during Recruiting and Family Day event

The 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery, Utah Army National Guard, will hold its 3rd Recruiting and Family Day at Camp Williams. This highly anticipated event is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023, starting at 12:00 pm. This event aims to bring together the community and provide an opportunity to learn about military service while enjoying family-oriented activities.

All attendees must present a valid driver's license or government-issued ID upon entry at the Camp Williams security gate. To facilitate transportation, designated parking areas are provided on the map. Guest will be shuttled by bus to live-fire observation area.

Guests are welcome to bring drinks and snacks, as a meal will not be provided during the event. Since the activities will take place outdoors, appropriate attire for outdoor activities and sunscreen are recommended. It is highly encouraged for guests to bring their hearing protection; however, disposable earplugs will be available.

The 2-222nd FA BN is a distinguished unit of the Utah Army National Guard dedicated to upholding the highest standards of military service. Committed to serving the community and ensuring readiness, the battalion plays a vital role in national defense and emergency response.

The schedule for the 2-222nd FA BN Recruiting and Family Day is as follows:

12:00 pm – Guests gather at Building 6150, west of the Parade Field or the parking lot west of the athletic track to board buses for transportation to the observation area. Buses will be available throughout the event to accommodate early departures if necessary.

1:00 pm – Guests can explore static displays and visit the Soldier and Family Readiness Group booth at the firing point.

1:30 pm – An informative orientation session on safety and family programs will be conducted at the bleachers.

2:00 pm – Witness an impressive artillery demonstration showcasing the skills of the 2-222nd FA BN.

2:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Guests board buses to return to the designated parking areas and conclusion of the event. 

Media notes: Any desiring to attend the event should RSVP text Maj. Keith Garner at 801-716-9162 or email ng.ut.utarng.list.pao@army.mil to coordinate attendance and access to Camp Williams no later than 5 p.m. Friday. A current driver’s license or state issued ID is required to enter Camp Williams.

Please arrive at Camp Williams, 17800 Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah, no later than 1:00pm, Saturday, May 20, to be escorted to the event location.
