Utah National Guard to Selects Next Land Component Commander
DRAPER, Utah — The Utah National Guard selects Col. Jason Wilde as the next Army land component commander. An assumption of command ceremony will be held in the Joint Force Headquarters Building at 12953 Minuteman Drive in Draper, at 10 a.m. on Sunday Dec. 3, 2023.
“The Utah National Guard is proud of the strong leadership within our organization,” said Maj. Gen. Daniel Boyack, adjutant general for the Utah National Guard. “I am proud to know there are so many capable and highly qualified leaders that can assume responsibility. I have full confidence in the leadership of Col. Wilde as he assumes this role as commander of troops.”
Wilde has served in various positions in the Utah National Guard since 1994. Including every level of command from battery to brigade. He is a professional field artillery officer who currently serves as commander of the 65th Field Artillery Brigade and has spent more than 25 years dedicated to advancement and modernization of the field artillery craft. He deployed to assist domestically during Hurricane Katrina response efforts and understands the dual nature of the National Guard. He deployed twice to Afghanistan as an embedded advisor in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He credits much of his success to the support he received from his wife, Jennifer, their six children and two grandchildren. His civilian career has focused on the fields of environmental science where he worked for the state of Utah and now currently for Hill Air Force Base.
“I’m thrilled and humbled to be considered for such an important position,” said Wilde. “I believe we are in a critical moment as we prepare for the domestic and national defense challenges ahead. I am convinced the leadership of the Utah National Guard are focused precisely on ensuring our resounding success and I am committed to supporting their priorities any way I can. It’s an exciting time to be in the Guard and I’m honored to continue my service in this storied organization.”
Wilde and his family are long-time residents of South Jordan, where he enjoys restoring old trucks, competing in car shows, and building his family legacy of service.
