Utah National Guard to host annual Veterans Day Concert saluting Vietnam Veterans
SALT LAKE CITY— The Utah National Guard proudly hosts the 68th annual Veterans Day Concert. This free and open-to-the-public concert will be held at the Tabernacle on Temple Square, beginning at 7 p.m., Nov. 10, 2023. Seating inside the Tabernacle is limited, and overflow seating will not be available due to area construction. Seating will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. For those who cannot attend the event in person, the concert will be live streamed on the Utah National Guard Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/utahnationalguard/.
This year’s Veterans Day Concert will commemorate the Veterans of the Vietnam War, who served our country with honor and distinction during a difficult time in our nation’s history. The concert will pay tribute to their service and sacrifice and honor their legacy of courage and patriotism. Retired Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Sterling Poulson, master of ceremonies, will highlight music performances by the Utah National Guard's 23rd Army Band, led by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Spencer Frohm, and the combined Granite School District high school choir.
During the concert, Brig. Gen. Joseph Green, assistant adjutant general - Army, Utah National Guard, will provide remarks to honor Veterans and highlight the sacrifice given by Utah service members during the Vietnam War.
During the concert, the winners of the state-wide Utah PTA and Utah National Guard essay contest, which recognizes outstanding essays written by students on the theme of ‘Why I am Proud of my Veteran.’ The recipient of the Zions Bank Veterans Service Award, which honors a Utah veteran who has made significant contributions to their community and country will also be awarded.
Veterans, families, and children of all ages are encouraged to attend this fun evening. The music will include patriotic songs, as well as songs that focus on strength and healing.
The Utah National Guard is proud to honor veterans through the celebration of music.
