CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah –
The Utah Army National Guard’s 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) is hosting an exclusive active-shooter training exercise for police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders, 911 communicators, hospital administrators, school administrators, military members, and government officials at the Camp Williams Readiness Center, Thursday, April 11, 2019.
Active shooter events are a community problem that require a community solution. As active shooter events continue to occur, with an average of 25 events each year (this number is up from an average 20 events per year from 1974-2013), the new national standard for active shooter and hostile event response requires rapid integration with state and federal law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responders. This training is intended to bring together these agencies and provide vital information to mitigate the problem. The course looks beyond just the active shooter scenario, examining other possible attacks including fire-as-a-weapon, vehicle-as-weapon, chemical attacks, explosives, and more. Dr. Mike Clumpner, a sworn law enforcement officer with North Carolina’s largest law enforcement agency, and president/CEO of Threat Suppression, Incorporated will be presenting.
The media is invited to attend the opening ceremony. Course registration is full and attendance has been limited to community leaders.

Media Notes: To attend, plan to arrive before the 7:15 a.m. and check in at the Readiness Center. Please allow adequate time to clear the security gate. Enter Camp through the main entrance gate. A valid government-issued ID is required for access. Inform security that you are attending the active shooter training. The Readiness Center Auditorium is located at Camp Williams, Building 9000, 17800 Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah 84065. Media will be able to capture images/video of Soldiers and state agencies receiving active-shooter training. Leadership of the Utah National Guard will be available for interview by request.
