Utah Guard fights the Oak Springs Utah Fire at Camp Williams

Utah Guard is currently responding to a fire at Camp Williams that started at approximately 11 a.m. United Fire crews were on scene at the .50 cal Range during the training exercise and responded immediately. The fire danger was low at the time of the training.

The fire has currently burned approximately 105 acres and is remaining inside the fire breaks to the North and South, contained to the East, and spreading to the West.  Fire breaks are currently being widened and new added to the West. 

There are approximately 60 Guard personnel engaged downrange on the fire with 18 fire apparatus, two dozers, one blade and two helicopters on scene. Herriman Fire Department is also responding.

Utah Guard’s 97^th Aviation Troop Command, 2^nd Battalion, 211^th Aviation is responding with three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, each with two pilots and a crew chief onboard, to help attack the fire from the air.

Each helicopter will make repeated trips to nearby water sources to dip its 600-gallon Bambi bucket and drop the water on the flames.
