Utah National Guard and Unified Fire Authority Collaborate for Prescribed Burn at Camp Williams
CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah – The mitigation efforts for the prescribed test burn conducted by Unified Fire and Utah National Guard Soldiers at Camp Williams were successful. The prescribed burn scheduled for Aug. 31, 2023, has been postponed due to weather conditions and will be rescheduled at a later date.

CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah – The Utah National Guard and Unified Fire Authority are collaborating to enhance fire preparedness and maintain the health of local ecosystems through a small, prescribed burn scheduled for Aug. 30 - 31, 2023, weather conditions permitting, at Camp Williams.
Prescribed burns play a crucial role in safeguarding our communities and natural landscapes from the threat of wildfires. By deliberately setting controlled fires, experts can reduce the accumulation of combustible materials, such as dead vegetation, fallen branches, and thick undergrowth. This proactive approach minimizes the risk of uncontrolled wildfires, protecting lives, property, and the environment.
During the upcoming prescribed burn, smoke may be visible in the surrounding area both during and after the burn. Residents and passersby are advised not to report the fire or be alarmed, as the operation is closely monitored by trained professionals from both the Utah National Guard and the Unified Fire Authority. Their dedicated efforts ensure that the burn area is continuously supervised until it is confirmed to be fully extinguished.
