Utah Air National Guard Elevates Mission and Scope as the 151st Air Refueling Wing Redesignates to the 151st Wing

ROLAND R. WRIGHT ANG Base, Utah - The Utah Air National Guard proudly announces the redesignation of the 151st Air Refueling Wing to the 151st Wing, signifying a momentous evolution in its mission and capabilities. This transformation represents a pivotal step in aligning our commitment to Utah's needs and enhancing our service to the United States of America.

"The Utah Air National Guard, established November 18th, 1946, surpasses the traditional role of an Air Refueling Wing. We're not just an 8-aircraft tanker unit; our 'wing' designation emphasizes our diverse capabilities beyond refueling," said Brig. Gen. Gene C. Buckner, Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Utah National Guard. "The 151st ARW should not be narrowly defined by numbers; it represents a comprehensive force, showcasing our full mission spectrum and unique contributions."

The redesignation marks a significant milestone in the growth and expansion of the Utah Air National Guard, reflecting a broader and more comprehensive role in meeting the ever-evolving challenges facing our state and nation. As the 151st Wing, our capabilities extend beyond traditional air refueling, allowing us to diversify our mission portfolio and adapt to the dynamic landscape of modern defense requirements.

"This redesignation embodies our unwavering dedication to serving the state of Utah and our nation," said Col. Doug Foster, 151st Wing commander. "Becoming the 151st Wing signifies a strategic shift that empowers us to not only continue our legacy of excellence in air operations but also expand our reach and impact across a broader spectrum of defense initiatives."

We cordially invite members of the media to join us for a momentous ceremony commemorating the redesignation of the 151st Air Refueling Wing to the esteemed 151st Wing. This historic event will take place on December 2nd at 0900 on Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base. As we mark this pivotal transition in our mission and capabilities, the media presence holds immense significance in sharing this transformative journey with the public. Your attendance will provide invaluable insight into the evolution and expanded scope of the Utah Air National Guard, underscoring our commitment to serving the needs of Utah and our nation. We welcome the media's participation in witnessing this milestone event and invite you to capture the essence of our dedication to excellence and service.
