UTNG’s 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade deploys to support for partner nation in Africa
CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah – The Headquarters Support Company, 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and 217th Brigade Signal Company are scheduled to deploy to Djibouti, Africa. A farewell ceremony for the 204th MEB and 217th BSC is scheduled for March 3, 2024, at the Roland Wright Air Base in Salt Lake City, Utah, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be live streamed on the Utah National Guard Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/utahnationalguard.
“We will be helping with operations in Africa to enhance partner nation capacity, promote regional stability, and protect United States interests,” said Col. Woodrow Miner, commander, 204th MEB. “Each Soldier was specifically chosen for their specialized skills and are proud to serve our nation providing technical expertise in support of security and humanitarian aid operations in Africa.”
This deployment is the unit’s largest deployment in over a decade. The brigade is a multi-functional brigade comprised of operations, communications, logistics, and maneuver support specialists who will integrate into Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, AFRICOM, to oversee headquarters operations, logistical and security missions Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan and the islands of the Seychelles.
