DRAPER, Utah –
The Boy Scouts of America Crossroads of the West Council is hosting the 37th annual Scouting for Food Drive on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, when Scouts will begin collecting food donations.
A Scouting for Food kick-off and media event will be held the day before on Feb. 10, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., at Layton High School Teen Center. Brig. Gen. Kurt Davis, director of joint staff, Utah National Guard, will be speaking along with other state and local leaders to start Scouting for Food.
On Saturday, Scouts will collect donations from local neighborhoods and shoppers at more than 50 local Smith’s Food & Drug stores throughout Utah. Soldiers and Airmen from the Utah National Guard will pick up the canned goods at donation drop-off sites and deliver the items to food assistance organizations.
We ask the public to drop off non-perishable food items at a list of community donation sites throughout Utah during Scouting for Food. Suggested food items include commercially packaged, non-perishable foods such as beef stew, chili, soups, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, and boxed meals.
