CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah —
The Utah National Guard’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Platoon, Group Special Troops Company, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) will hold a departure ceremony Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Aaron Butler Readiness center, Camp Williams, Utah.
“I am very confident in this group’s level of readiness. In the platoon we have a combined 112 years of aviation experience, including 17 combat deployments, and we have trained for this mission in particular for the last four months, night and day,” said Capt. RJ Schultz, detachment commander. “We believe in one another, and we are prepared to accomplish our mission.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current social distancing guidelines, the departure ceremony will be limited to immediate family members, command leadership and by special invitation only.
The UAS Platoon of nearly 30 Soldiers will support Operation Inherent Resolve in United States Central Command area during its six-month deployment. The platoon completed pre-deployment training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and is scheduled to depart in the coming weeks.
